Aims & Objectives
The Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act will revolutionise the way police forces in England and Wales are governed and held to account. Our timely Transition to Elected Police and Crime Commissioners Conference will focus on ensuring that the move towards the new system is as smooth, efficient and effective as possible.
This is a challenging but pivotal opportunity, as decision-making on policing shifts radically from Government to communities, giving them the power to elect local police and crime commissioners.
Drawing on key themes throughout, this event will cover:
• Ensuring that Police and Crime Commissioners have the tools to commission services from an informed position
• Establishing Police and Crime Panels before the first elections in order to ensure appropriate local scrutiny from the outset
• Developing partnership relationships going forward and ensuring police accountability
Our conference brings together Police Forces, Police Authorities, Local Authorities and other public bodies to consider how best to achieve accountability, transparency and collaborative working in the new structural landscape.
Expert speakers will examine fundamental changes to governance, funding and partnership working. Take this opportunity to prepare your area for the first Police and Crime Commissioner elections in November 2012.
