The Future of the Code for Sustainable Homes
Wednesday 21st May 2008 – Copthorne Tara Hotel, Scarsdale Place, Kensington, London. W8 5SR |
Aims and objectives |
|
“The Code for Sustainable Homes is the single national standard for the design and construction of new sustainable homes” |
|
The Government will be making ratings against the Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH) mandatory for all new homes from 1st May 2008. Mandatory ratings will have important implications for all those involved in housing provision, this is therefore a crucial time to hear key Government messages around the CSH and its future.
This timely conference will provide delegates with a robust understanding of the expectations and implications in meeting the CSH, including:
- The progress of the housing sector in meeting CSH standards
- Costs, funding bids and effective planning
- Balancing local economic, social and environmental targets
- Managing stakeholder consultation and expectations around the Code
Delegates have the opportunity to hear from the pioneers who have already delivered to CSH 3* and 4*, and share learning on the challenges and solutions in providing new sustainable, affordable and healthy places to live. |
Benefits of attending |
- Hear national policy and strategy on how the CSH aligns with the planning and policy environment
- Learn what the Housing Corporation are looking for in funding bids
- Discuss assessment against CSH standards, the future development of sustainable homes and how standards might be applied to existing builds
- Get advice and guidance from those who have already built to higher CSH levels, understand the challenges and solutions in meeting CSH standards
- Look at the development of local planning policy and how to balance local economic, social and environmental factors in building to CSH standards
- Find out more about the technical aspects of the Code and consider how builds will be assessed and monitored in future
