Aims and objectives
The Disability Equality Duty came into force in the public sector 18 months ago. Nevertheless, with one in five of the population having a disability, developing schemes that are fit for purpose and legally compliant remains an ongoing challenge if Scotland is to be truly inclusive.

Capita’s 2nd Disability Equality in Scotland Conference gathers together public sector disability champions to address practical strategies for updating Disability Equality Schemes in line with the needs of disabled employees, service users and customers.

This timely event coincides with the internal vetting of year two progress reports on the Disability Equality Schemes before formal submission in December. Gain confidence in how best to move your organisation’s scheme forward by hearing clear guidance and best practice across Local and Central Government, Education, Health, Law and the Third Sector.

Attend this conference to be better equipped with delivering the next steps in the Disability Equality Duty including:
  • Implementing rigorous practices for the appropriate  involvement of disabled people
  • Future-proofing your existing Disability Equality Scheme up to 2009’s renewal deadline
  • Integrating successes in Disability Equality Schemes across all the equality duties and strands
Benefits of attending
  • Take away good practice from a cross-section of Scottish public sector organisations sharing their expertise and tools for mainstreaming disability equality
  • Interact in practical workshops and panel discussions examining key components for successful delivery of Disability Equality Schemes including involvement and action planning
