Aims and Objectives

“Child poverty blights the life chances of far too many children in our country which is why we are absolutely determined to end child poverty, stop poverty passing from one generation to the next and increase social mobility” Ed Balls, Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families

As the current economic climate prompts fears of an increase in child poverty, it is essential that practitioners share best practice to drive forward improvement in the life chances of disadvantaged children.

To aid progress, the Government will shortly be announcing the Child Poverty Bill, a new legislative framework addressing both the causes and consequences of child poverty. At the forefront of policy development, Capita’s Child Poverty Conference will bring together key stakeholders and Government representatives to provide delegates with up-to-date guidance on the new policies and advice on achieving the 2010 targets and eradicating child poverty by 2020.

Key issues to be addressed include:

  • Increasing parental employment rates for hard-to-reach and vulnerable groups
  • Narrowing inequalities in health and education
  • Providing a full range of local services to support both children and families

Attend this timely and focused national event to take away best practice and the latest strategies to successfully tackle child poverty in your area.
