Aims and objectives

With the 2010 deadline for delivering extended services rapidly approaching, all schools must now focus their efforts on providing services for children, parents and the community that are effective, efficient and sustainable. Delivering these services cannot be achieved alone, but requires a collaborative
and creative approach.

Capita’s National Extended Schools Conference will bring together key stakeholders and examples of good practice to address the main questions and challenges, including:

  • Where do extended services fit in the government agenda and what are the funding plans beyond 2010?
  • How can your school ensure it meets Ofsted’s requirements for extended services?
  • How can you work effectively and develop relationships with children, parents and the wider community to help drive community cohesion?

Delegates attending this timely and important event will have the opportunity to take away practical advice and examples to improve the delivery of services in their own schools and authorities.

Benefits of attending
  • Hear an update from the DCSF on the extended schools agenda and how it fits into government policy
  • Gain early feedback from pathfinders working on identification and targeted support for disadvantaged pupils
  • Identify how your school can put extended services in place to meet Ofsted expectations
  • Understand how to overcome the challenges of delivering extended services in rural areas
  • Discover how to put extended schools at the heart of your community cohesion agenda and the benefits it can bring
